The Second Consortium Management Meeting held (March 14, 2013)

On March 14 (Thu), 2013, the second Consortium Management Meeting was held at the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagasaki University.

In addition to the professors of eleven partner universities and the committee members from private-sector corporations, directors and committee members of the industry-academia-government consortium “Association for promoting Water Environment Technology” which gives support to this project were in attendance at this meeting.

Following the opening speech by Shigeru Katamine, president of Nagasaki University, an explanation about the outline of this management meeting for the financial year of 2012 was given and the brand new advanced laboratory-scale membrane bioreactor for the treatment of cafeteria waste water was introduced.

In the afternoon, Professor Shinichi Nakao (Department of Environmental and Energy Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering, Kogakuin University) made a keynote speech entitled “Applications of Membrane Technologies for Water Treatment,” which was followed with an active question-and-answer period.

The coursework results of all eleven inaugural-year students were reported and then an exchange of opinions between the members of the partner institutions and the committee members was held, in which we received valuable comments including requests for the project and questions on the educational program.

The second Consortium Management Meeting was declared closed with the statement of commitment to make efforts to develop this project continuously while cultivating human resources.
